Events in Ipoh City

In conjunction 26th Anniversary of Ipoh City Day and Visit Malaysia Year 2014, Ipoh City Council with various agencies including Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, Perak State Government, Tourism Malaysia, Perak Tourism, private sectors and NGO are organising an event to celebrate and to promote Ipoh City as main tourism attraction in state of Perak.  Some of the events are popular among of peoples in the country as well as athletes from abroad. There are the part of events in Ipoh City are consider as state event, national event and international event. You also can visit and participate in the event.

3 Ipoh International Waiter’s Race Ipoh International Waiter’s Race Competition is organise by the Malaysian Association of Hotels, Perak Chapter. The competition is for the waiters which they are running with a tray and glasses on top. 4 Ipoh City Night Ride Ipoh City Council and Malaysia Interaction Culture Association (MICA), jointly organise an event known as Ipoh City Night Ride which is held in conjunction with the City Day Celebration. 8 Ipoh International Run Ipoh International Run is one of the major tournaments promoted by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysiaand it was accept by distance running enthusiasts all around the world. The Ipoh International Run is a half marathon tournament and draws more than ten thousand participant each year to compete for the great prizes for each category. All contestants are require to run on the designated routes around the city centre and there are varies categories to suit the contestants level of fitness. Everyone can participating on these event.

9 Festival of Ramadan Ramadan is the month for rebuilding our spiritual strength. It falls on the ninth month of the Muslim year, during which all Muslims must fast during the daylight hours. Indulgence of any sort is forbidden during the fast. In Malaysia, the Ramadan month is observed within the Muslim communities. Food Bazaars are becoming increasingly popular. Usually, the open air temporary stalls are set up in designated places. Sometimes, streets are closed for the duration of the bazaar hours which is from 4.30pm until 7.45pm. 10 Merdeka Day Celebration Malaysia gained the independence from British rule on August 31, 1957. Each year, people across the country gathered for parades to mark the Merdeka Day in the spirit of patriotism and love for the country, and honouring the sacrifices made by the security forces. Spectators headed for public gatherings in the capital, state capitals and major towns to witness the celebration.  State of Perak also celebrate The Merdeka Day. The programs enthusiastically with a festival and parade. A royal procession, cultural performances, military demonstration, intricate floats, and other activities fill the day. 11 International Ipoh City Fun Ride International Ipoh City Fun Ride is organize by Ipoh City Council in collaboration with Malaysia Interaction Culture Association (MICA). It is the international annual event that which is held in conjunction with the City Day Celebration. The participants will be cycling for 50 km in and around the city. 12 Perak Arts Festival Perak Arts Festival is an event which truly showcased the rich heritage of the state. The festival is open to the public from morning till midnight. Pavilions are set up to exhibit the cultures of the four major races – Malay, Chinese, Indian and Aborigines.
